Dr Sios is highly skilled and experienced clinician specialized in Obstetrics and in advisory and managerial roles in health, hospital management and organizational planning, institutional development and strengthening, in the Private health sector. Dr Sios has worked the PNG health sector since 1980 and has held a number of executive roles in both the private and public health sector arena and PNG Defence Force. Dr Sios is the principal owner of PPH through successfully acquiring the shares of his partners show entrepreneurship and business acumen to manage the business and investment. He sets clear goals and strategic direction for the hospital.
This experience provides Dr Sios with a comprehensive understanding of the private health sector and the stakeholders involved. Dr Sios has an in-depth understanding of the PNG governmental framework and proven ability effectively liaise with national, government and business counterparts. With particular expertise in the areas of strategic oversight, capacity development, and leadership, Dr Sios is well positioned to effectively support the development of the airport clinic proposal and honour such partnerships as may be generated in its implementation and resourcing.
Dr Sios is currently the Principal Medical Officer (PMO) for Civil Aviation Safety Authority of Papua New Guinea (CASA PNG)
Dr Polapoi Chalau has many years’ experience working in senior medical leadership and health management in the public sector and holds a Masters in Business Administration- Executive (EMBA) from PNG University of Technology, Masters in Surgery and a Bachelor in Medicine and Surgery from the University of PNG (UPNG).
Dr Chalau served as the CEO of Angau General Hospital in Lae for 7 years (2006-2014) and previously as the Chief Surgeon of PNG & Specialist advisor to the National Health Department (1993-2010).
Dr Chalau’s many achievements include serving as the Honorary Senior Lecturer in Surgery at the University of PNG and was instrumental in setting up highly specialised training for surgeons at the country’s medical school.
Dr Polapoi Chalau hails from Loamat Village – Rambutso Island in the Manus Province and is married with six children. He joined Paradise Private Hospital in 2016.
Sr. Aida Puek Velai is the Director for Nursing Services at the Paradise Private Hospital. Sr. Puek has a Bachelor in Clinical Nursing Child Health from the School of Medicine & Health Services at the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG).
Her role as Director- Nursing Services is to ensure the provision of quality, compliant patient care through the supervision and coordination of all nursing services, while monitoring adherence to regulatory policies and procedures. Sr. Puek is proud to be a healthcare provider in a 100% nationally owned hospital that prides itself as a partner and player in delivering healthcare services to the people of Papua New Guinea.
Sr. Puek aspires to serve and drive the mission of this Hospital as a user-friendly healthcare facility for families in the communities that we serve and to provide conscience, fair and adequate health care services in enhancing the healing process and wellbeing of our patients and their families.
Janet Sios jointly owns Paradise Private Hospital (PPH) with her husband, Dr Robin Sios, and serves as Director – Finance & Administration. She brings to Paradise Private Hospital a diverse background in finance and business operations and has worked in leadership roles ranging from professional services to accounting, project management, auditing, and taxation to general business management across various sectors including the minerals sector, finance and agriculture.
She is a philanthropist who is actively involved in charity work in the health sector, an advocate for people living with disabilities and financial contributor towards PLDW programs, and continues to provide business mentorship for young, aspiring entrepreneurs in PNG.
She is also the Director/Owner of JRS Finance Trading as Frangipani Group of Companies – Frangipani Printing Solutions and Frangipani Hire Cars (family company incorporated in 2006) with offices in Kokopo and Port Moresby. And is the Founder/Director of Papua New Guinea’s leading inaugural fashion event PNG Fashion & Design Week, incepted in 2016.
Prior to going into business, she spent twenty years working in various senior financial management positions with the PNG Sustainable Development Program Company and Mineral Resources Development Company (MRDC). She also worked in the audit section of Price Waterhouse for four years in 1991-1994 being involved in the audits financial institutions and agricultural sectors.
She has been a member of the board of Motor Vehicle Insurance Limited (MVIL) since 2013. She has also served on the board of directors for Ela Motors, Amalpack Ltd, Marsh Ltd, High Artic Energy Services PNG and Tasman Goldfields Ltd group of companies.
